Swansea Bay Construction Support Group (SBCSG) is a collaboration of diverse contractors, located within Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea region. SBCSG is a grant funded, not for profit organisation that is committed to providing cost-effective training and development opportunities to its members. As a member of a training group means you get access to cost-effective training which can be organised at local venues, the support of the Group Training Officer to assist with your training needs, networking opportunities at group meetings, and being able to make your voice heard as part of a larger group.
SBCSG work closely with local colleges and training providers to identify training needs within the industry and where possible, endorse the achievement of recognised qualifications to training for future generations.
Networking opportunities give members the chance to share ideas, experience, product knowledge and best practice as well as gaining information relating to local projects and keeping up to date with local initiatives and news.

Our Specialization
Swansea Bay Construction Support Group specialises in supporting local construction companies to develop and grow. We work collaboratively with many organisations including local colleges and training providers. We also have close links with Cyfle Building Skills who offer a shared apprenticeship program and a work experience program which is part of the South West Wales Hub.

Training
SBCSG Members can benefit from a dedicated Training Officer who is employed to assist with the organisation and coordination of any training requirements, saving you a lot of time.
SBCSG are also able to offer this training using local training providers where possible and at a discounted cost. Some of the common courses we arrange include:

South West Wales Onsite Hub
Cyfle Building Skills have launched an innovative programme that will offer 780 fully funded onsite work placements within the construction industry over the next three years.
Funded by the Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) Onsite Experience Commission, the programme is designed to help tackle the skills gap within the construction industry and will allow us to develop the first construction training hub in South West Wales.
The programme will offer construction opportunities including 10 day onsite experience placements and associated training. On completion, candidates will receive a basic tool kit worth £150.

Networking & Events
SBCSG Members are invited to attend various events such as:
- Member meetings which offer updates on local initiatives, guest speakers delivering presentations on industry specific topics, opportunities to share best practice,
- CPD Seminars, webinars and workshops
The SBCSG Awards has been set up to recognise the achievements of our members apprentices. The construction industry can be a very rewarding career but is often overlooked by young adults leaving school and considering their future professional options. SBCSG Awards were set up not only recognise the achievements of the apprentices embarking on their chosen career with the member companies, but also to promote positivity about the many varied opportunities available to individuals who are choosing a career when leaving school or college, or who are looking for a change in direction.

Shared Apprenticeship
SBCSG has close links with Cyfle Building Skills, a Multi Award Winning Regional Shared Apprenticeship Scheme that employs apprentices. The aim is to provide a service which supports young adults into sustainable employment within the construction industry, enabling them to receive high quality training and relevant experience throughout their apprenticeships, furthering chances of gaining employment.
